Kathmandu, Sept 7: The presentation of various groups formed to discuss and comment on the reports presented in the ongoing statute convention of the CPN UML has been over. The convention representatives presented their views through 10 groups in the 2nd statute convention, which has been going on at Godawari, Lalitpur, for two days.

The groups mostly accepted the major concept presented in the reports relating to politics, statute amendment, and organisation, along with some suggestions, according to the chief of the UML publicity department, Rajendra Gautam.

Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli had presented the political report, while Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel presented the proposal on statute amendment, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel presented the organisational report. Various other departmental reports were also shared on the occasion.

Krishna Prasad Jaishi from Sudurpaschim Province said it was not the time to think of an alternative to Chairman Oli at present. "Our group has this conclusion," he added.

Chairman of the party in Karnali Province and group leader, Gulab Jung Shah, said the party requires strong and vibrant leadership, so Oli's leadership fits the party best.

Lumbini Province's Chairman Radha Krishna Kandel viewed that leadership should commit to achieving socialism based on Nepali characteristics. So, unity within the party is imperative, he added.

Gandaki Province Chairman and group leader Min Prasad Gurung observed that the reports had clearly given a direction for achieving the national ambition of 'prosperous Nepal and happy Nepali'.

However, Bagmati Province's Chairman and group leader Kailash Dhungel said some of the leaders were against the removal of the 70-year age limit and the two consecutive terms for chairman and office bearers.

The Madhes and Koshi province chairmen and group leaders Chandreshwor Mandal and Ghanashyam Khatiwada also welcomed the reports.

Now, the senior leaders are scheduled to furnish responses to the comments and suggestions given by the representatives and group leaders, according to Gautam. (RSS)
