Benju Sharma to receive this year's BP Literature Prize

Kathmandu, Sept 2: This year's BP Literature Prize is to be conferred on senior literary figure Dr Benju Sharma. The prize established by the Jananayak BP Koirala Memorial Trust carries a purse of Rs 100,000 and a letter of appreciation. A meeting of the prize selection committee of the Trust held on Monday took this decision, according to the Trust.  

Likewise, this year's BP Senani Samman would be given away to Arjun Khadka of Udayapur district in recognition of his crucial contributions to the establishment of democracy. Khadka will receive Rs 51,000 in prize. 

Ramchandra Pokhrel is the coordinator of the prize selection committee, while Kiran Yadav and Hari Prava Shrestha Khadgi are the members.   

Dr Benju Sharma and Arjun Khadka will be awarded with the prizes on September 9 in the presence of President Ramchandra Paudel amid a special ceremony at the Office of the President, the Trust shared.  

Last year, Dwarika Shrestha (Kathmandu) and Bhojraj Bhandari (Kaski) were awarded by the Jananayak BP Koirala Memorial Trust. (RSS)
