Kathmandu, Aug 31: A revolving fund of 2.7 million rupees has been established with the aim of regularly awarding the prize named after Rashtrakavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire.
The meeting of the Masryangdi Literary Foundation held on Saturday evening under the chairmanship of Bijayaraj Neupane, the Foundation chairman, made the decision. Mahakali Ghimire, the wife of the Rashtrakavi (poet of the nation), contributed Rs 1.6 million for the endowment fund, and other family members also provided that amount.
Every year, on the occasion of the Rashtrakavi's birth anniversary on the 7th of Ashoj, a cash prize of 100 thousand rupees will be awarded to a writer, informed the treasurer of the Foundation, Lakshman Thapa. Previously, there was a balance of Rs 1.6 million in the fund.(RSS)
