Kathmandu, Aug 26: The Nepali Congress has decided to nominate Ishwari Devi Neupane for the vacant chairperson position of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.
A meeting of the top leaders of the party held today under the chairmanship of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba made this decision, party General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma said.
The vice-chairpersons, Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung, along with the general secretaries, Gagan Kumar Thapa and Sharma, were present at the meeting.
Elections for the new chairperson of the Committee will be held on August 27. The Parliament Secretariat has announced that the nomination of candidacy is scheduled to take place today from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The position was vacant after Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada resigned from the post. (RSS)
