By Radha Luitel, Phidim, Aug.25: Police have arrested a person on charges of defrauding a resident of Falgunanda Rural Municipality-2, Panchthar District, Chakraraj Ramtel, of Rs 2 million.
According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, the arrested person has been identified as Amit Mahato alias Krishna Murmu, a resident of Rangeli Municipality -4, Morang, and residing in Trichowk, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-4, Chitwan.
Panchthar Police Spokesperson and Police Inspector Rupesh Tamang said that he was arrested based on a complaint that he had defrauded Ramtel of Rs 2 million by promising to make a lot of money through land transactions, dollar transactions, and business ventures in partnership with Jag Bahadur Tharu of Nawalparasi and Bacchu Gurung.
According to Tamang, Murmu was arrested in collaboration with the Chitwan police and brought to Panchthar.
Police said that the search for the other accused is ongoing, and preparations are underway to produce Murmu before the court.
Murmu has currently been taken into custody at the District Police Office, Panchthar, and an investigation has been initiated.
