Lack of state transformation hindering development: Shrestha

blog

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 22 – Senior Vice Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that the main reason behind Nepal’s inability to move forward rapidly in the process of development and prosperity is not only political instability, but also the lack of restructuring and transformation of other state organs.

According to him, the judiciary in particular has fallen into a deep crisis. “No Nepali who goes to the court in search of justice can get justice without connection, access, or bribery,” Shrestha wrote on social media.

He further remarked that, more seriously, the courts are being used as tools to serve political interests, vengeance, and retaliation. “It is a matter of extreme disgrace that judges, for their official or personal interests, decide cases as per the wishes of the political leadership of the government,” Shrestha said.

According to him, such a situation has resulted in innocent people being imprisoned, losing property, and being deprived of justice. He stressed that the responsible officials within the judiciary must think seriously about this matter.

“The restructuring and transformation of the organs of the state is essential. But for that, a corresponding political leadership is necessary, and the foundation of that must be ‘clean politics’,” Shrestha stated.
