Kathmandu, Aug 21: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, has said preparation was made to cover all Nepalis under the social security fund (SSF).
Responding to the queries related to the ministry in today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Bhandari mentioned that necessary arrangements were in place to align all with the SSF. He viewed that out of total Nepali migrant workers, 1.835 million have joined the SSF, adding support of all sectors was necessary to cover all Nepalis and workers of the informal sector.
The government has signed agreement with United Arab Emirates and fixed the minimum salary for Nepalis going there for employment while a bilateral agreement is being signed with Saudi Arabia soon, he argued.
Minister Bhandari argued the government was aware of sending skilled or semi-skilled workers for foreign employment. Preparation is on to digitalize labour and employment sector as well, he shared before the parliament.(RSS)
