11 of same village falls sick after consuming wild mushrooms in Jajarkot

By Sahadev Basnet, Jajarkot, Aug.22: Eleven people from five families in Ranagaun, Bheri Municipality-4, in Jajarkot have fallen ill after eating poisonous mushrooms fetched from the forest.

All are currently undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Jajarkot.

Padam Buda, aged 50, his wife Radhika Buda, aged 42, Lil Bahadur BK, aged 42, and Bimala BK, aged 24, all residents of Bheri Municipality-4.

Similarly, 36-year-old Ganesh Chandara, 29-year-old Jyoti Shah, Pansara Tamata, 19-year-old Prakash Pun, 19-year-old Chandra Bahadur BK, Laxmi Shahi, and Prem Malla are among the ill who fell ill after consuming poisonous mushrooms.

They all reported that they had fetched mushrooms from the forest on Thursday and eaten them in the evening. Immediately after eating, they all experienced vomiting and fainting and were rushed to the hospital.

Chief of District Hospital Jajarkot, Dr Sunil Pun, said that the patients are undergoing treatment and all of them are currently out of danger. 

Dr Pun said that they were taken to the hospital at midnight on Thursday and are improving after treatment in the emergency room.
