By Binaya Karna, Kalyanpur (Saptari), Aug.20: Upendra Bhagat, a resident of Khadak Municipality-7 in Saptari, who went missing since July 9, has been found dead in Gaur, Rautahat.
Bhagat, aged 58, was found dead in room number 202 of Nepal Lodge in Gaur Municipality-5 on Monday.
Yadav, who was employed as a manager at Shyam Baba Rice and Oil Mill Private Limited in Rajbiraj-8, left the company on July 9, saying he would come after tea.
After that, the family filed a search application with the police on July 10, along with Bhagat's physical details. Bhagat, who had been missing for five weeks, had arrived at the Nepal Lodge on August 14.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Saptari, Jitendra Kumar Basnet, confirmed that the body found in a hotel room is that of Upendra Bhagat.
He said that the District Police Office, Rautahat, had received information that Bhagat, who was untraced, had been found dead while the search operation was ongoing, with the details of his whereabouts circulated to all police offices.
Bhagat's nephew Kiran Kumar Bhagat said that the death is suspicious as no external injuries were found on Yadav's body.
Bhagat's family has demanded an impartial investigation into the incident.
He said that the body of the deceased has been sent to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for postmortem.
