Chief District Officer Hamal transferred to Home Ministry

By Avinash Chaudhary, Dhangadhi, Aug.14: Six days after the prison incident that was witnessed in the Kailali Prison, Chief District Officer (CDO) Engineer Gogan Bahadur Hamal has been transferred to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"He was transferred to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday," said Shivaraj Joshi, Information Officer at the District Administration Office. 

It is reported that Krishna Prasad Lamsal, Chief District Officer of Dang, will replace Hamal.

It is said that Chief District Officer Lamsal will reach Kailali by Thursday evening or Friday. 

Last Friday at midnight, prisoners from Block A attacked prisoners from Block B in the prison.

Bharat Chaudhary, aged 40, of Dhangadhi, was killed in that violent clash, while 47 other prisoners were injured.

After the prison incident, the then jailer, Basanta Khatri, was also transferred. Jalandhar Bhusal has been appointed as the new jailer. 

There have been allegations of security failures in the prison incident.

Before the prison incident, the District Security Committee, including Chief District Officer Hamal, had monitored the prison several times.
