blog

Kanchanpur, Aug 6: The locals from Jai-Parsiya of Laljhadi rural municipality-4 in the district have been terrorized after a wild elephant entered settlement on Tuesday.

As the male pachyderm was found prowling on street and agricultural fields, people worried over their safety.

However, they managed to chase away the elephant towards the Shuklaphanta National Park. A local Laxman Rana said they were gripped with fear if the pachyderm returned their village again.

"Last year, a person lost his life in the elephant attack. The wild animal also damages crops every year," he shared, adding that they were demanding support from the concerned local bodies to chase away the prowling animal.

Rural municipality chair Nirmal Rana also informed that the wild elephant had entered via Laljhadi conservation area terrorizing the villagers.

Chief of Laljhadi Sub-Divisional Forest Office, Karun Kar Joshi, said there were five elephants in the conservation area. As the elephants could enter nearby settlements at any time, the concerned people were alerted over it.  (RSS)
