FFWPU announces Peace Literature Award

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 16: While marking Bhanu Jayanti this year, the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Nepal chapter inaugurated a new literary organisation ‘Peace Literature Assembly’. During the event, the organisation also announced the Peace Literature Award, aimed at promoting global peace through literature.

Under the coordination of poet Rupsingh Bhandari, the organisation has committed to honouring one distinguished poet each year with the prestigious Peace Literature Award, which carries a purse of Rs. 100,000. 

Basically, a writer in English, Bhandari, the author of Conscience Quantum, is a dedicated promoter of Nepali art, nature, culture, and the majestic mountains. He has also composed numerous poems in Nepali and has long been an active advocate for the peace movement. Believing firmly that literature is one of humanity’s brightest expressions, he sees it as a vital force to unite the world.

On Bhanu Jayanti, the society organised a heartfelt poetry recitation event as part of the celebrations. Eighteen poets, including Santosh Kumar Pokharel, Sneh Sayiami, Krishna Bause, Ranjana Niraula, Rami Priya, Bhoj Kumar Dhamala, Subas Singh Parajuli, Ujala Kapali, Deep Dangi , Ganga Khatiwada, Sunil Dhungana, Chachu, Rita Khatiwada, Janakraj Adhikari, R. Manandhar recited their poignant poems during the event.

Krishna Adhikari, poet, lyricist and the South Asia Director of the FFWPU, emphasised that peace is essential for everyone. He highlighted that literature can serve as a powerful vehicle in the journey towards harmony and understanding.

Chief Guest Bhisma Upreti of the event, emphasised the important role of poetry and the poets’ understanding for peace.
