Kathamndu, July 9: Renowned politician, former minister, and former Member of Parliament (MP) Achyutraj Regmi has passed away at the age of 93.
He passed away on June 7 while undergoing treatment in Australia.
Late Regmi was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Constituency -93 in Palpa West from Nepali Congress in the first general election of 1958.
He became the Minister of Housing and Physical Planning in the interim government of 1990 under the Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai.
According to Krishna Prasad Poudel, Chief Secretary of the Nepali Congress, the late Regmi, who was born in Mehaldhara, Tansen Municipality-2, Palpa, played an active role in the organization building of the Nepali Congress and democratic movements.
Nepali Congress said that the party has lost a senior and experienced politician.
