By Shankar KC, Salyan, June 20: The Rapti Highway has been blocked after a landslide that occurred in Chorkhola, bordering Salyan and Dang districts.
The Kapurkot-Dang road section has been completely blocked due to a landslide that occurred in Chorkhola of Kapurkot Rural Municipality-3, along with incessant rains.
The District Police Office, Salyan, said that the road has been disrupted due to landslides since 9:55 PM on Thursday.
Although efforts have been ongoing to resume the road since 6 AM on Friday, clearing the landslide debris has been difficult due to continuous rain.
Kapurkot Rural Municipality Chairperson Durga Pun said, "It is estimated that the road can be resumed in two to three hours once the landslide stops."
According to him, efforts are being made to remove the landslide debris using machines from the Road Division Office.
The Salyan-Dang section of the Rapti Highway has been plagued by landslides during rainy season since a long time.
Due to this, there have been frequent disruptions in transport operations and travel has become risky.
Hundreds of long and short distance vehicles have been stranded on the roads due to landslides.
