Communications Minister vows to start Tamang language news service at RSS

Kathmandu, June 11: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung has expressed commitment to start news service in the Tamang language at the National News Agency (RSS).     

The Tamang Journalists Association had submitted a memorandum today demanding the launching of news service in the Tamang language at RSS.     

Receiving the memorandum, Minister Gurung expressed his commitment to start news services in the Tamang language at the news agency.     

"Sooner or later, we will start a news service in the Tamang language at RSS," said Minister Gurung.     

RSS has been providing the news service in the Nepali, English, the Nepal Bhasa and Maithili languages.     

The team led by the Association president Netra Tamang met with Minister Gurung and submitted the memorandum.     

A year has passed since the Bagmati Province government declared the Tamang language as the working language of Bagmati Province.     

According to the 2021 census of Nepal, there are more than one million 423 thousand people who speak the Tamang language in Nepal.(RSS)
