By Hari Krishna Aidi,Mugu, June 5: The Rara Festival has kicked off at Rara Bamni Chaur in Mugu from June 2, 2025, with the aim of promoting tourism in the Rara region of Mugu. The festival will run until June 13, 2025.
The festival is being organised by HR Media Private Limited with the slogan “Preserving Mugu’s Art and Culture and Achieving Economic Prosperity through Tourism Promotion”. The festival is the first of its kind in Mugu to be organised with private investment.
Inaugurating the festival, Mayor Bishnu Kumar Bham of Chhayanath Rara Municipality stressed the need to identify and utilise Mugu's abundant potential for economic development and social transformation.
“We have many hopes, expectations and possibilities. It is our national responsibility to turn these hopes and possibilities into reality and to transform the prevailing despair and confusion into hope.”
Naresh Bham, chairperson of the organising committee, said that the festival was organised with the objective of promoting tourism, agriculture, industry and trade, along with art and culture in Mugu.
An estimated budget of Rs. 5 million has been invested in organising the festival, with expected business transactions reaching around Rs. 6 million.
According to Bham, this is the first large-scale festival in the district organised with private investment. Around 100,000 visitors from within and outside the district are expected to attend the festival.
The festival features 50 stalls showcasing agriculture, medicinal herbs, handicrafts and hotels.
Naresh Bham said that between 60 -70 local and national-level artists will perform at the grand Rara Festival. This festival is expected to contribute significantly to the promotion of the district’s art, culture and tourism.
