By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 6: President Ramchandra Paudel has extended his best wishes to everyone on the occasion of World Environment Day on Thursday.
In his message, the President said, “I take this day as an opportunity to pledge to improve the environment around our homes, strengthen the ecological relationships between forests, water, plants, agriculture and wildlife, and to uphold every citizen’s constitutional right to live in a clean and healthy environment.”
“The unregulated and unscientific use of plastic polymers has made plastic waste an increasingly serious environmental challenge. In line with the concept that development and the environment go hand in hand, I make a sincere appeal to all to adopt a nature-friendly lifestyle and promote activities that improve the environment,” President Paudel said in his message issued on Thursday.
President Paudel said, “I would like to express my sincere thanks to all governmental and non-governmental agencies, development partners and all stakeholders involved in the important responsibility of environmental protection and promotion.”
He also wished that this day inspires greater unity and enthusiasm in implementing the commitments Nepal has made on various national and international platforms to reduce the environmental impact of air, water and land pollution.
Similarly, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav also expressed his wishes on World Environment Day.
In his message, Vice President Yadav said that the Day carries an important message that “The Earth is Our Shared Heritage.”
“Embracing this message, it is imperative that we all play a role in protecting the environment and maintaining a long-term balance between nature and biodiversity,” he said.
“Today’s world is facing major challenges such as climate change, pollution control, overexploitation of natural resources and the decline of biodiversity. To address these problems effectively, scientific and technology-based solutions, along with active community-level engagement, are essential,” Vice PresidentYadav said.
