By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 28: After the local level elections, Tokha Municipality has achieved great success in developing its physical infrastructure.
Expected success has been achieved in physical infrastructure development in most of the municipal areas, including road expansion, road upgrading, sewage management, construction of the Bishnumati Corridor, and water supply management.
Tokha Municipality has said that more than 150 kilometres of roads have been blacktopped and sloped in the Tokha Municipality area since the first local level elections were held in 2017.
Mayor Prakash Adhikari said that the work of blacktopping, slope paving, and block laying of major roads in the municipality area was completed within about eight years after the local elections.
During this period, 85 per cent of the roads in the municipal area have been blacktopped. Mayor Adhikari claimed that almost all roads will be blacktopped in the remaining two years.
According to him, most of the roads that were muddy and dusty during the 2017 election have now been paved.
During this period, three bridges and 14 culverts have been constructed, work to protect public land has progressed as a campaign, and 290 drinking water projects have been completed in the municipal area.
Mayor Adhikari said, "The entire municipality has completed the expected work to solve the long-standing drinking water problem of the residents of Tokha, which is a matter of pride for the residents of Tokha."
Tokha Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Sher Bahadur BC said that the municipality has worked on many physical infrastructure projects in a short period of time.
He stated that the impact of the municipality's work in the area of physical infrastructure has been more profoundly experienced by the local residents than by the authorities themselves.
