Kathmandu, May 27: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Top Bahadur Magar, has said the NHRC's recommendations have been minimally implemented by the government.
During his address to a programme organized to mark the 25th anniversary of the NHRC here today, the chair of the national human rights body said inadequate seriousness on part of the governments regarding implementation of the NHRC recommendations is contributing to promote impunity.
Citing that citizens' right to freedom of expression is an indispensable dimension of the human rights, he was of the view of exercising this right in a peaceful way.
He said justice to and repatriation for the survivors of the cases of human rights violation during the armed conflict is the concern of all.
Chairperson Magar stressed that the State bodies should fulfill their duties to that end in an efficient manner.
In the current fiscal year, the NHRC has received 58 complaints on violation of human rights.
The NHRC observed its anniversary with the slogan of "The rights to life, dignity, equality and freedom: Base for durable peace and prosperity".(RSS)
