A meeting of the Republic Day Main Celebration Committee held on Monday at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers decided to celebrate the day on May 28, 29 and 30 with a series of events.

Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Acharya stressed the need for everyone to stand united in defense of the republic, which was achieved through a long struggle and sacrifice.

“The federal democratic republic is an achievement secured through the struggle and sacrifice of the Nepali people. It is our collective responsibility to celebrate Republic Day to safeguard the achievements gained through the federal democratic republic,” he said.

“Some elements have started to stir against the republic and its achievements. It is imperative that we remain serious and sensitive in our efforts to protect these gains.”

On May 28, national flags will be hoisted at all government offices across the province and cleaning programmes will be carried out on office premises.

On May 29, as part of the main celebrations, a grand morning procession featuring public participation and cultural displays will be organised.

The approximately five-kilometre-long rally will be held in Bhalubang in the morning and conclude with an exchange of greetings at the Provincial Assembly premises. On May 30, a Diwali (illumination) programme will be held, accompanied by the broadcast of Republic Day-related interviews and features through various media outlets.
