By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 21: A photo exhibition has been organised in Kathmandu with the aim of promoting tourism development in Rolpa.

The exhibition showcases nearly three dozen selected photographs of religious, cultural and tourist sites within the Rolpa district, highlighting their potential and promoting these destinations for tourism.

All the photos on display were taken by Balkuram Pun, a young tourism activist from Rolpa.

The exhibition, titled ‘Tourism for Peace’, is being held at NB Centre, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, starting Monday, under the initiative of Pun, who is also a tourism entrepreneur.

The exhibition was inaugurated by former Minister for Water Resources, Irrigation and Finance, Barsha Man Pun.

While inaugurating the event, he said that Rolpa is not only a centre of political struggle but also a hub for cultural tourism.

He said that places like Jaljala and Biwang Daha in Rolpa are established as religious sites, which could attract religious tourists.

Balkuram Pun Magar, a resident of Jelbang in Rolpa and also a tourism entrepreneur, has been working to promote tourism in Rolpa and Rukum by capturing photos of cultural, natural, religious and various heritage sites in the region.

He believes that the photo exhibition in Kathmandu will contribute to the promotion and development of tourism in Rolpa and Rukum.

The exhibition has been organised by the Nepal Tourism Promotion Forum and will continue until the upcoming Wednesday.
