Kathmandu, May 20: Minister for Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, urged all local levels to complete land classification activities within the last of the current fiscal year.
Responding to queries raised by lawmakers in course of discussion on the proposal of seeking consideration on Bill to amend some Nepal Acts related to Land, 2082, Minister Adhikari mentioned that different types of problems might surface if land is not classified within the deadline.
He opined that the bill related to land was brought with an objective of manage landless, squatters and unsystematic settlement as well as to ease the real estate related activities, adding it would address the administrative complexities related to land.
The Minister for Land Management clarified that there is no truth to the questions and doubts raised in parliament about the bill being beneficial for land mafias and intermediaries.
"It has been said that those who bought land in the past but have not yet obtained permission from the government will be granted permission. There are more than one hundred applications for this since the year 2074 BS. We have said that we will regulate it. This is in accordance with past procedures," Minister Adhikari clarified.
