Sherpa first policewoman to summit Sagarmatha

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 20: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Nepal Police, Kunjang Chhopel Sherpa, has successfully summited Sagarmatha, the highest mountain of the world. 

According to Nepal Police Central Spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Thapa, Sherpa reached the summit at 8:56 am on Monday.

Spokesperson Thapa said that Kunjang is the first female police personnel from Nepal to conquer Sagarmatha. 

She is currently serving at the Women and Children Directorate of the Nepal Police Headquarters.

Thapa said that she undertook the Sagarmatha expedition to spread a message against violence against women and children. 

Inspector General of Police, Deepak Thapa, congratulated Kunjang on her successful summit.
