By Our Correspondent,Bandipur, May 20: The literary monthly magazine Madhupark, published by Gorkhapatra Corporation, has released a special edition titled ‘Bandipur Special’.
Known as the ‘Queen of Hills,’ Bandipur, located in Tanahun district, is a historic, cultural, and touristic town. The special edition aims to promote the rich diversity and prosperity of the region.
The edition was jointly launched by Gorkhapatra Corporation’s Executive Chairman Bishnu Prasad Subedi, Madhupark’s Editor Tribhuvan Chandra Wagle, Bandipur Rural Municipality Chairman Surendra Bahadur Thapa, Bandipur Tourism Year 2025’s Coordinator Baisahadur Gurung, and social activists Namaste Lalbhumi and Shiva Lal Pradhan in Bandipur on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Chairman Subedi expressed that the special edition provides an accessible way to learn about Bandipur’s richness and diversity.
Bandipur Chairman Surendra Thapa said that the special issue supports the holistic development of Bandipur. He added that Madhupark, already dear to all Nepalis, has become even more cherished with the publication of the Bandipur Special edition.
Thapa said the magazine has left a lasting impression globally, helping introduce Bandipur to the world and contributing significantly to building a prosperous Bandipur.
He said, “This edition has made a great contribution to promoting Bandipur’s tourism on the global stage. It’s a matter of pride that our place is gaining recognition through literature.”
The Jestha edition of 2082 BS includes articles on Bandipur’s history, culture, nature, tourism potential, ancient buildings and heritage, festivals, traditional lifestyles, and local identity.
It features literary pieces, memoirs, and photographs related to Bandipur.
According to Editor Tribhuvan Chandra Wagle, from February 24 to 26, a National Creation Conference was held in Bandipur, where Madhupark brought 40 writers from across Nepal. Works from those participants, along with others, are included in the ‘special’ issue.
Wagle said that preparing this special edition required significant effort.
“Usually, Madhupark has 80 pages, but this time it has 112 pages,” he said.
He emphasised that the published content is high-quality and praised the Corporation’s unique initiative of combining literature and tourism.
Bandipur is a destination rich in ancient archaeological heritage.
Its main attractions include Tundikhel, Martyr’s Park, Siddha Gufa, Thani Mai Temple, Khadga Devi Temple, and Bindabasini Temples, Mani Mukundeshwari Hiking Trail, Mini Great Wall, Raniban, Tindhara Picnic Spot, Gumba, Ramkot, Korikha, Dharampani Homestay, the National Goat Research Centre, and facilities for silk farming, beekeeping, and mushroom cultivation.
