By Our Correspondent,Ilam, May 19: A province-level photo competition and exhibition has recently concluded at Kanyam, one of the major tourist destinations in Ilam.
The exhibition was organised with the objective of promoting the tourist destinations within Koshi Province, where 60 outstanding photographs from the province were selected and exhibited.
Among the 60 photogrpahs exhibited, photojournalist AP Tolang’s photo of Tingbung Pokhari won the first place.
In the competition, Basanta Limbu secured second place, David Ojha, Nishant Rana, and Manoj Basnet came third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
The top five photographers, photojournalists were awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 25,000, Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000, Rs. 10,000, and Rs. 5,000 respectively, along with certificates.
Minister of Forest and Tourism of Koshi Province, Sadananda Mandal, said that the competition would contribute to the promotion of tourism in Koshi Province.
The exhibition was organised by the Tourism Office, Kakarbhitta, under the Koshi Province Tourism Year 2082 initiative. The event was coordinated by the Federation of Photojournalists, Koshi Province.
According to Binad Pandey, Vice President of the Photojournalists Federation, Koshi Province, and coordinator of the event, out of the 208 photographs submitted for the competition, 60 were selected for exhibition.
The jury panel for the competition was chaired by journalist Giriraj Baskota, with senior photographer Bishwo Tamrakar and art instructor Chetan Sherpa as members.
During the programme, Chhabi Lal Khatiwada, Head of the Tourism Office in Kakarbhitta, informed that the exhibition was organised to promote tourist destinations within Koshi Province and support the Visit Year 2082.
According to the organisers, the exhibition attracted the presence of more than 400 visitors to the venue.
