Gandaki Province’s budget session from May 25

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Lekhnath, May 19: The budget session of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly is set to begin on May 25. The Gandaki provincial government on last Thursday had recommended the session be convened on May 25. Following the recommendation from the Council of Ministers, Province Chief Dilliram Bhatta on Sunday summoned the session in accordance with Article 183(1) of the Constitution of Nepal, informed spokesperson for the Office of the Province Chief, Rameshwar Aryal.


The last session of the provincial assembly concluded on April 8. During the upcoming session, the government will present its annual policies and programmes, as well as the budget for the new fiscal year.

Gandaki Province Minister for Economic Affairs and Spokesperson Dr. Tanka Raj Gurung stated that the principles and priorities of the budget will be presented on May 26. 

In the current fiscal year, the provincial government had announced a budget of Rs. 32.97 billion. However, the upcoming budget is expected to be smaller, with plans underway to introduce a budget of around Rs. 29 billion.

Dr. Gurung also said that while this is primarily a budget session, the government is preparing to pass several bills as well.

In the last winter session, six bills and the Provincial Assembly Rules were passed.
