blog

Kathmandu, May 18: In a bid to promote compassion, non-violence and animal rights, the Nepal Vegetarian Association (NVA) is set to host the Ahimsa (non-violence) Festival Nepal coming August.

The three-day public event, which will be free and open to all, aims to create a dynamic and inclusive space where people from all walks of life can come together to celebrate ahimsa and explore a compassionate lifestyle rooted in veganism. Held under the slogan “Compassion Connects”, the festival seeks to inspire behavioural change through engaging performances, interactive sessions and vibrant cultural displays.

Supported by numerous local and international organizations, the festival is expected to draw over 30,000 visitors and reach more than 50,000 people through extensive media coverage. The diverse program will feature musical performances, workshops, conferences, and cultural exchanges, all aimed at raising awareness about sustainability and cruelty-free living.

Scheduled to take place from August 28 to 30, the festival will offer a variety of engaging activities, including live music, yoga sessions, and plant-based cooking demonstrations. “The festival brings together individuals, organizations, and communities to celebrate shared values of kindness, compassion, and ethical responsibility,” said NVA Chair Krishna Gurung at a press meet here Saturday.

The theme of this year’s festival is: “Celebrating compassion, promoting non-violence, and advocating for animal rights through music, dialogue and cultural exchange”.(RSS)
