Kathmandu, May 14: The elderly woman who died in the fire that occurred in two houses behind the Suraj Arcade at Makhan Tol, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24 has been identified.
She is 80-year-old Bishnu Adhikari from Kavrepalanchok, said Apilraj Bohara, District Police Range Kathmandu spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police.
The fire broke out in Dayaram Shrestha's mud and wood house due to the leakage of a cooking gas cylinder this morning also spread to the adjacent five-storey concrete house of Rukesh Shrestha.
The fire was completely brought under control by 10 am. Superintendent of Police Bohara stated that teams from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police were deployed to douse the fire, which lasted for about three hours.
The fire was controlled with the help of six fire trucks: two from the Juddha Fire Brigade, one from the Nepali Army, one from Lalitpur Metropolitan City, one from Ramhiti, and one from the Balaju Industrial Area. (RSS)
