Role of education important in social-transformation: DPM Singh

Trishuli (Nuwakot), May 11: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakashman Singh, believed that societal transformation could be achieved through the development of education.     

Addressing the golden jubilee of Kalika Himalaya Secondary School at Kalika rural municipality-2 in Rasuwa district on Monday, DPM Singh reiterated that education was prerequisite to development of the country, job creation and ensuring economic prosperity.     

"The incumbent government has been prioritizing infrastructure development along with the reform of education and health sector," Singh mentioned, highlighting the need to leverage information and technology through education for development of infrastructure.     

Furthermore, the DPM claimed that the country has moved on the path of stability and prosperity after the two big parties made a coalition government.     

Stating that frustration towards the form of governance was rife among the people in the country, DPM Singh explained that the two big parties came together to run the government to bring about changes in the lives of the people and to sustain the current system of governance.     

"The current coalition government will get continuity," he assured.     

Likewise, House of Representatives member Mohan Acharya underscored promoting vocational education for the advancement of education sector thereby producing skilled human resources.     

Shedding light on the acute shortage of skilled human resources in the country's agriculture, IT, engineering and medical sector, Acharya drew the attention of the government and civic communities to make arrangements for as much as enrollment of students in these sectors so as to address the human resources crunch.     

Likewise, Golden Jubilee Main Organizing Committee's Chairperson and Kalika rural municipality Chairperson, Harikrishna Devkota, claimed that the education sector had undergone reform bid after the establishment of the local government.     

He divulged that the local government had been allocating budget for the development of education sector as per the annual policies and programmes of the local government.     

On the occasion, DPM Singh honoured various individuals contributing significantly to the school and education sector in the locality.     

Established in 2032 BS, Kalika Himalaya Secondary School currently boasts of around 700 students, informed Radha Pandey, the Principal of the School.(RSS)
