Professor found dead, suspicion of foul play

By Bhawani Dutt Bhatt, Kailali, May 8: A professor has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in Bajura.

According to the District Police Office, Bajura, 38-year-old Narendra Thapa, of Sayal, Budhiganga Municipality-6, was found dead, with eyes gouged out and severe head injury and face injury, on Wednesday evening.

According to the Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Bajura, Police Inspector Janak Bahadur Bohara Bajura, Thapa, a teacher at Badimalika Campus in Bajura, was found dead lying face down in a drain on the left side of the Sanfe-Martadi Highway, about 500 meters away from the campus.

Police said they received information that Thapa, who had gone to the campus to teach on Wednesday morning, was found dead at around 6:30 PM, on the same day.

The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.

Locals have demanded an investigation into the incident, saying Thapa's death is suspicious.

Local Naya Bharati expressed suspicion that Thapa was murdered as his eyes were gouged and he had deep injuries on his head and face. 

The body of the deceased Thapa has been taken to the District Hospital Martadi for a postmortem on Thursday morning.

Thapa has a son and a daughter. Thapa's wife teaches at Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality. Thapa had been living alone at home.
