HoR meeting: Lawmakers against making traditional and distributive budget

Kathmandu, April 27: House of Representatives (HoR) lawmakers while participating the today's discussion session have argued that the upcoming budget should not be traditional and distributive.     

Nepali Congress lawmaker Rajendra Kumar KC has stressed the need to focus on the policies and programmes and budget for the upcoming fiscal year on the basis of need and not traditional and distribution-oriented way. During the special hour of the meeting, he said economic prosperity could not accelerate due to lack of formulation of policy programmes and budget focusing on the country and the people.     

CPN (UML) lawmaker Padam Giri said the incumbent government was focusing on the country's economic prosperity. "The present government has been formed as per the commitment of people-centric development and construction.     

CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Madhav Sapkota stressed the need for the government to address the people's sentiments and said no one should indulge in activities that do not follow the constitution and laws.     

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Manish Jha said that the present government was ruining the future of youths.     

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) whip Gyan Bahadur Shahi stressed the need for the government to protect the life and property of the people at any cost.     

CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Rajendra Pandey drew the attention of the government to address the demands of the protesting teachers, resident doctors, microfinance and cooperative victims.     

Janata Samajbadi Party lawmaker Ranju Kumari Jha suggested bringing a production and employment-oriented budget instead of distribution-oriented one.     

Prem Suwal of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party suggested not to allocate budget to unproductive sectors on the basis of accessibility and urged the government to bring budget and policy programmes keeping the people at the centre.     

Rastriya Janamorcha lawmaker Chitra Bahadur KC said the monarchy thrown by the people through the political movement would not restore under any circumstances.     

Chanda Chaudhary condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, India and said that Nepal should stand against the terrorist attack and support India firmly.     

Lawmaker Narayan Prasad Acharya stressed the need for coordination among the three tiers of government to build a self-reliant economy, increase local production and employment.     

Similarly, Mukta Kumari Yadav demanded that RPP chairman Rajendra Lingden's statement regarding the involvement of NC joint general-secretary's son in the looting of Bhatbhateni liquor should be removed from the records of the parliament.(RSS)
