Some of the more than 200 cannonballs discovered on December 12, 2016, during the Nepali Army's excavation have now been transferred to the museum. According to the NA, the cannonballs were handed over to inform and educate tourists about the historic weapons.

Over 200 cannonballs from the Rana era were found in Silkhan Tole in Tansen Municipality-4 two years ago.

Nepali Army said that the cannonballs discovered at that time were kept securely. Ninety of the cannonballs, previously preserved by the NA, have now been given to the museum.

Midwest Regional Commander, Major General Prem Bahadur Pun, officially handed over 90 ‘Mahindrakali Cannonballs’ to Chief of the Museum, Shyam Kumar Poudel.

Pun said that various cannonballs used by the NA at different times have been placed in the museum for public display.

It is expected that the addition of the cannonballs will attract more tourists to the museum.

The NA has established a dedicated war room at the museum.

Museum Chief Poudel added that the war room contains historical weapons, army uniforms, information on Nepali Army chiefs and supreme commanders, utensils, and other artifacts used by the army throughout history.

He said that the inclusion of the cannonballs would make it easier for students and visitors to gain new insights on the subject.
