Dhirendra Prasad Sah,Janakpur, Mar. 26: The meeting of the Madhes Provincial Assembly has been postponed indefinitely after the political parties failed to reach a consensus to resume the Assembly session.
A meeting of the political parties held on Tuesday to end the impasses in the Provincial Assembly concluded without reaching a consensus leading to indefinite postponement of the Assembly meeting.
The Madhes Provincial Assembly meeting was adjourned after opposition parties obstructed the meeting on Sunday demanding an investigation into various issues. Janmat Party parliamentary party leader Mahesh Prasad Yadav informed that a consensus could not be reached due to the opposition parties' insistence on forming a parliamentary investigation committee in the meeting of the parliamentary party leaders.
He said that the Provincial Assembly meeting called for Tuesday was postponed due to the inability to reach an agreement.
Madhes Provincial Assembly Secretary Basu Prasad Koirala issued a notice on Tuesday stating that the meeting scheduled to be held at 11 am on Tuesday has been postponed until further notice.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Assembly members who had arrived to attend the meeting complained that their visit was in vain as the meeting was not held.
