By Ajay Sah,Mahottari (Gaushala), Mar. 25: The Nepali Army has built a four-room toilet facility specifically for girls at a school in Mahottari.
Under the public welfare programme of the Mid-Eastern Division Headquarters, Bardibas, Gorakhnath Battalion, No. 9 Brigade, built the well-equipped four-room girls' toilet for Shree Saraswati Janata Secondary School in Sonama Rural Municipality-2, Mahottari.
The facility was officially handed over on Sunday. Mid-Eastern Division Commander Major General Krishna Bahadur GC handed over the facility to the school's principal, Raj Kumar Sah.
Major General GC said that the toilet was constructed by investing two months of voluntary work utilising internal resources, manpower and materials from the Nepali Army.
The newly built facility aims to provide necessary amenities for female students as the school was facing a shortage of infrastructure, including toilets.
During the handover, Chief Guest Major General GC expressed that it was an honour for the Nepali Army to support such an essential facility for girl students. He also pledged that the Nepali Army would continue similar assistance for other schools in the future.
Mahottari’s Chief District Officer, Lal Babu Kawari, said that schools face various infrastructure shortages and urged local governments to address these issues.
Similarly, Principal Raj Kumar Sah expressed gratitude towards the Nepali Army for constructing the toilet, highlighting its significance for the students. He said that the school has nearly 2,000 students, with over 1,000 being girls.
The existing toilets were old and in a dilapidated state, making them unusable. Due to the high number of students, they often had to wait in line to use the toilet. In addition to constructing the new facility, the Gorakhnath Battalion also repaired the old toilets, providing much-needed relief for the students, said Principal Sah.
