Army’s health camp in remote village brings joy to locals

By Raju Lamichhane,Rukum West, Mar. 24: The Chandidal Battalion of the Nepali Army has successfully conducted a free primary health check-up camp in Gotamkot, Rukum West. 

In the one-day camp held on Saturday at Gotamkot Health Post in Aathbiskot Municipality-4, 673 individuals underwent health check-ups. The NA also distributed medicines free of cost. 

The Chandidal Battalion, under the leadership of Shree No. 19 Brigade Headquarters and in coordination with Shree No. 19 Field Ambulance Battalion, organised the camp in the remote village of the district.

According to the Chandidal Battalion, 518 women and 155 men, including 62 children, benefited from the camp. 

The camp offered gynecological check-ups and treatment, psychosocial counseling, general health examinations and medicine distribution. 

A total of 186 individuals received gynecological services while 100 people availed of psychosocial counseling.

Locals expressed their happiness at receiving free medical services in their own village. Deputy Mayor of Aathbiskot Municipality, Dhana Kumari Shahi, appreciated the Nepali Army for organising a health camp in a remote area, ensuring medical check-ups and treatment for rural residents. 

She emphasised that the free health check-ups and medicine distribution by a team of doctors provided significant relief to the villagers.

The camp was led by Brigadier General Padam Bahadur Budha (PhD.), the commander of Shree No. 19 Brigade Headquarters. 

The event was attended by the commander of the Chandidal Battalion, doctors from Shree No. 19 Field Ambulance Battalion, and other officials. The health camp was conducted in collaboration with Aathbiskot Municipality Office, Ward Number 4 Office, Health Service Office, Oxfam Nepal, Gotamkot Health Post, and other stakeholders.
