BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Mar. 21: Out of 39,416 students who received their admit cards for the first day of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) in Kathmandu district, 1,646 students did not sit for the exam on Thursday.
According to Samanta Mani Acharya, Head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Kathmandu, 36,933 students appeared for the compulsory English subject, 705 for the technical subject and 132 for the grading examination. However, admit cards were distributed to 37,240 students for English subject, 730 for technical subjects and 1,463 for the grading examination.
Meanwhile, Nandalal Paudel, Controller of Examinations at the Office of the Controller of Examinations for Grade 10, stated that the examination was conducted smoothly, peacefully and with dignity across the country.
Surprisingly, a large number of students were also absent in several districts. In Dadeldhura, 37 out of 2,614 students who were scheduled to take the exam remain absent. Likewise, 31 out of 4,992 students in Dumre district did not attend the exam. In Saptari, 312 students remained absent and 146 in Banke.
In Manang district, where only 46 students were scheduled to appear at the SEE, one remained absent, informed Dhurba Prasad Koirala, Head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Manang. The district had only one examination centre.
Meanwhile, two invigilators were dismissed for misconduct in Mahottari. According to the Education Development and Coordination Unit in the district, Sitendra Raj Sharan, an invigilator at Janata Secondary School in Kohulwa, and Rana Kumar Yadav, an invigilator at Ramdev Janata Secondary School in Bharampur, were both removed from their duties.
Furthermore, a fake student was caught in Rupandehi. Abdul Rahman, an invigilator at Shree Leelaram Neupane Secondary School in Siddharthanagar Municipality-8, said that Aashish Baniya, who had already cleared the SEE, attempted to take the exam using an admit card belonging to Sanjay Chaudhary.
