Chengdu (China), March 20: Tourism
entrepreneurs of Pokhara and Chengdu city of Sichuan Province of China have
concluded business partnership (Business to Business) and 'Sales Mission'.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) organized
the B2B and Sales Mission programme between tourism entrepreneurs of Chengdu
and Pokhara – who reached the Chinese province through the first commercial
chartered flight from Pokhara International Airport.
At a programme organized in
collaboration with Pokhara Tourism Council and Consulate General in Chengdu,
tourism entrepreneurs of both the countries stressed the need for operating
routine flights of Sichuan Airlines while expressing readiness for tourism
partnership.
Tourism entrepreneurs of Chengdu
appreciated the natural beauty of Pokhara and urged them to emphasize on
infrastructures aimed at luring Chinese tourists.
On the occasion, Pokhara
Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya shared excitement on the commencement
of the first commercial chartered flight from Pokhara, the tourism capital of
Nepal, to Chengdu.
"The friendly relations
between Nepal and China are as high as mountains, as deep as sea and as wide as
the sky, he said, adding the relationship has expanded since the time of
historical personalities like Bhrikuti and Songtsen Gampo and Araniko.
Stating that Sichuan province has
become a center of attraction among tourists from all over the world due to the
world famous tea, giant panda and Buddha's historical heritage, he said Nepali
tourists are also eager to experience its rich culture and natural beauty.
With the operation of flights,
tourists from Chengdu will go directly to Pokhara and tourists from Nepal will
also come to experience the rich culture and natural beauty of Chengdu, he added.
Deputy Director General of the
Department of Foreign Affairs of Sichuan Province, Liu Min, expressed
confidence that the commercial chartered flights started by Sichuan Airlines
would be regularized.
He expressed the belief that the
partnership between tourism entrepreneurs of the two countries would be
important with the continuation of the flight to further strengthen the
historical relations between the two countries in the days to come.
Chairperson of Pokhara Tourism
Council Taranath Pahari said the Pokhara-Chengdu flight would enhance tourism
partnership between the two countries.
He expressed the belief that the
tourism entrepreneurs of Chengdu would also get positive support and
cooperation in this regard.
Chief of NTB, Gandaki Province,
Maniraj Lamichhane, said Pokhara is also a preferred destination for Chinese
tourists.
He said the continuation of
Pokhara-Chengdu flight was necessary to attract more Chinese tourists to
Pokhara.
Consul General at the Consulate General
of Nepal in Chengdu, Suresh Raut, said they were ready to extend all possible
support from the Consulate General for regularizing the Pokhara-Chengdu
flight.
Pokhara Tourism Council General
Secretary Jeevan Raj Sapkota expressed the belief that the number of Chinese
tourists in Pokhara would increase in the coming days. RSS
