Rudraraj Literary Award' goes to Gargi Sharma

Kathmandu, March 11: The 'Rudraraj Literary Award' has been conferred on Dr Gargi Sharma. The award is provided by the Rudraraj Literary Service Committee.

Dibya Satabdipurush Dr Gaurishankar Lal Das handed over the award to Dr Sharma amidst a function organized on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Sardar Rudra Raj Pande in the federal capital on Monday. The award carries a purse of Rs 50,000 and letter of appreciation. 

Dr Sharma is honoured with the award for her untiring contribution to Nepali literature.

Pande's novel 'Rupamati' is a famous read among Nepali literary enthusiasts. The late Pande had contributed to Nepali literature with varieties of creations- novel, drama, humor and satire. He had also played significant role in education and society.

On the occasion, even the students who excelled in SEE from the Bhanu Secondary School were given prizes.

Sardar Rudraraj Pande was a seminal literary figure of Nepal, according to Dr Das. 

Committee Chairman Badri Raj Pande also reminded the multidimensional personality Rudra Raj Pande. His creations helped forward social reform in Nepal, Badri Raj added.

Award recipient Dr Sharma viewed Sardar Pande is an inspiring figure to the present generation. 

Expert on culture Dr Govinda Tandan explained how the late Pande's literary works contributed to Nepali culture and literature. (RSS)
