Textbooks reach schools of Humla district

By Our Correspondent,Humla, Feb. 27: Textbooks for all municipalities in Humla have arrived in time for the new academic session. The suppliers responsible for transporting books from the Nepalgunj branch of Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra have successfully delivered the books to all rural municipality centres on foot.

Hemraj Dhungel, head of Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra in Nepalgunj, confirmed that the transportation of books to all seven rural municipalities in Humla has been completed. He mentioned that textbooks are being distributed for the Himalayan districts of both Humla and Dolpa. 

Lalit Jung Shahi, head of the education branch in Kharpunath Rural Municipality, said that textbooks have arrived for all the schools in the rural municipality. These textbooks were promptly distributed to the schools upon arrival. Kharpunath has 17 community schools, and Suman Bookstore was entrusted with the responsibility of transporting the books. The recruitment campaign ran from February 2, while supplementary exams were held from February 19 to 24, with book distribution taking place on February 25 and 26.

Gyan Bahadur Rokaya, a representative of Rokaya Bookstore, previously tasked with transporting books for 35 community schools in Simkot and Namkha Rural Municipality, began selling textbooks a week before the new academic session. Rokaya reported that 1,055 sets of books for grades 1, 2, and 4 were transported to the district, along with 1,960 sets for grades 3 through 12. Teaching and learning will commence in Simkot Rural Municipality on March 2.

Meanwhile, Mandev Shahi, a representative of Gyanu Books and Stationery, who handles purchasing and transporting books for Sarkegad Rural Municipality, confirmed that he delivered the books after purchasing them. Sarkegad Rural Municipality has 32 schools. Additionally, textbooks for 57 schools in Chankheli, Adanchuli, and Tanjakot Rural Municipality have been purchased and delivered, according to Lokendra Bhandari, representative of LB Suppliers. He added that the books have reached the rural municipality centres, and distribution has already begun.

Yogesh Alemagar, head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, stated that textbooks for 20,390 students across 141 schools in Humla have arrived before the new academic session. He assured that this time, the textbooks will be distributed on schedule, and the issues faced in previous years will not be repeated.
