Elephant found dead in Kanchanpur

By Abinash Chaudhary,  Dhangadhi, Feb.19: A wild elephant was found dead in the Laljhadi Rural Municipality of Kanchanpur district. 

Elephant was found dead in the area where elephants were wreaking havoc for some months.  

Ram Bichari Thakur, chief at Pahalmanpur Division Forest Office in Kailali, said that an adult elephant was found dead on the roadside near Persia and Jai village of Laljhadi Rural Municipality -4.

"An elephant was found dead. I am sending a staff with a technician to ascertain details, then only the cause of the elephant's death can be established," he said.

Elephants in the Laljhadi corridor have been causing damage to agriculture in that area since last October. 

Two people were killed in Kanchanpur this year due to an elephant attack.
