Report on e-commerce bill tabled in HoR

Kathmandu, Feb 7: President of the House of Representatives (HoR), Committee on Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Welfare, Abdul Khan presented the report of the committee on the bill related to e-commerce in the HoR meeting today.     

On the occasion, Committee president Khan said that the government presented this bill to regulate and systematize the transactions through e-commerce in view of the growing transaction of goods and services through e-commerce in Nepal.     

It is stated in the bill that enactment of laws for regulating and monitoring e-commerce has become expedient as e-commerce is inevitable for the creation of employment opportunities in the country, for the easy supply of goods and services and export promotion, among other sectors.     

Various provisions have been made in the bill to regulate the trade of goods or services through the internet and make it systematic and reliable.     

Any individual, firm, company or organization registered under law and permitted to trade in goods or services may, subject to this Act, carry out electronic trade, according to the bill.(RSS)
