By Kokila Bhandari, Dhankuta, Jan.23: 73-year-old Ratnamaya, who was returning home after receiving her old age allowance, was robbed in broad daylight in the Dhankuta market.
Around 150,000 rupees in cash which she was carrying in a bag was looted by an unknown group in front of the district hospital located in the Hulak tole of Dhankuta district, on Wednesday at around noon.
Police have not shown any interest even though the robbing incident took in main market of Dhankuta.
Locals have demanded an immediate search and action against the culprits as it has raised questions about the security arrangements.
Locals allege that the on-duty police are busy in mobile and other areas instead of keeping security in the designated chowks (centers). It is serious how the information that a septuagenarian was withdrawing her old age allowance from the bank was leaked.
A septuagenarian Dhankuta Municipality- 10 was robbed while returning home after withdrawing her old-age allowance from Machhapuchhre Bank near Madan Chowk.
District Police Office Dhankuta said that a bag containing cash and documents was robbed.
The police said that the investigation into the matter is underway.
