I am not interested in Facebook comments: DC

blog

By Our Correspondent,Pokhara, Dec. 4: Dinesh DC, the chairman of the Nepal Film Development Board (FDB), has said that they will work strategically for the development of the Nepali film industry.

Talking to journalists in Pokhara on Tuesday, DC said, “I will efficiently do my job. I am not interested in Facebook comments. Instead, I will respond through my work. There are both negative and positive responses while working, and I take them positively.”

DC said he had set a target to complete three major tasks by April 14 next year.  He further shared that he would visit all 166 cinema halls throughout the country to assess their conditions.

The Film Development Board released data on the cinema halls across Nepal recently.

He highlighted that the film industry is currently governed by the 1969 Act, which requires amendments for the smooth development of the sector.

He emphasised that all cinema halls should operate under the same act and that rules would be established only after the act is amended.

Additionally, the FDB is planning to implement box office systems in all cinema theatres to track ticket sales and determine the total gross collection of films.

Some cinema halls have not adopted the FDB’s box office system, and letters have been sent to them to comply, he added.

DC also added his ambition to complete the tasks of a two-year term within six months.

Since becoming the chairman, he has resumed work of several projects that were previously halted. Recently, the FDB distributed national film identity cards to individuals who have contributed to the Nepali film sector for over 30 continuous years, he recalled.

These cards will grant direct access to Singha Durbar, he added.

“Furthermore, the board has introduced an insurance scheme of up to Rs. 100,000 and is currently conducting drone training programmes,” he added.

“The FDB has also initiated a script museum, which aims to preserve Nepali film scripts and stories. The board is planning to digitise and archive the scripts for better access and longevity.”
