Kathmandu, Nov 17: President Ramchandra Paudel has expressed his deep sorrow over the demise of former Speaker Damannath Dhungana. Taking to a social site account, the Head-of-the-State paid tributes to the late Dhungana and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
"I am saddened by the death of former Speaker Dhunanga. I will ever remember the contribution of Dhunanga, a politician, senior advocate, and civil society leader, to the democratic movement in the country. I extend my tributes to dear Dhungana and offer condolences to the grief-stricken families," the President said.
Dhungana breathed his last this afternoon in the course of the treatment for liver-related complications at Baneshwor-based Frontline Hospital at 1:30 am, according to Dhungana's private secretary Dr Rudra Sharma. He was 83. (RSS)
