Baku (Azerbaijan), Nov 16: Minister for Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri has said that the support of the World Bank was needed to make carbon trading further effective.
Minister Shahi, who is currently in Baku of Azerbaijan to attend the ongoing 29th edition of the Conference of Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, said that the market for carbon trading should be ensured.
On the occasion, he appreciated the support of the World Bank for Nepal's infrastructure development, conservation and development of forest, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and capacity building.
The contributions made by the World Bank in the areas of social and environmental safety are praiseworthy and Nepal has expected additional support, Minister Thakuri said.
Saying that Nepal has taken an ambitious goal of zero emission by 2045, Minister Thakuri stated that reducing emissions and adaptation programmes were Nepal's priorities.(RSS)
