Kathmandu, Nov 16: The APF-SSB Eighth Coordination Meeting is taking place here today aiming to further bolster the coordination between the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the border security force of India.
The Meeting will take place at the APF Nepal's Headquarters at Halchowk in Kathmandu. It will wrap up on Sunday.
The agendas of the Meeting include prevention and minimization of the cross-border crimes, carrying out surveillance to check illegal activities, information exchange between the two agencies on these matters and joint supervision of the border marker pillars, among others, APF Joint Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa said.
According to him, discussions will also be held in the meeting on making the border security more effective and on continued coordination and collaboration as well as on information sharing between the two border security forces for making the border security stronger.
APF Inspector General Raju Aryal and SSB Director General Amrit Mohan Prasad will lead the delegation of their respective organizations in the meeting. The SSB delegation including the Director General has already arrived in Kathmandu on Friday.
The coordination meeting has been taking place every year. The seventh meeting was held in India. The sixth coordination meeting took place in Kathmandu in Asoj, 2079 BS. However, the coordination meeting could not be convened during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
Regular discussions between APF and SSB are also organized at the Director-General-Inspector General, company chief, battalion chief and border outpost chief levels as well.(RSS)
