RSS ensures free news service in Maithili, Awadhi, Nepal Bhasa languages

Kathmandu, Oct 29: The Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) has launched a free news service in the Maithili, Awadhi, and Nepal Bhasa languages.     

 This initiative decided by a recent board meeting chaired by RSS Executive Chair Dharmendra Jha aims to promote and protect mother languages. Starting today, news will be disseminated to media houses and publications in these languages at no cost.     

It has been expected that media houses that are almost closed and those on the verge of closure will be benefitted from the free service.     

 Jha expressed hope that this initiation by the state-run national news agency will help revive these struggling media houses, enabling them to publish and broadcast news in their respective languages.     

According to the National Census 2078 BS (2021), of the total population of the country, 3.22 million or 11.05 percent speak the Maithili language, 864,276 or 2.96 percent are Awadhi-speaking population and 863,380 speak the Nepal Bhasa. The total population of Nepal is 29.164 million.
