Patan (Lalitpur), Oct 4: The Sixth Asian Population Association (APA) Conference is to be held in Kathmandu on November 27-30, 2024.
Around 800 representatives from 50 countries will attend the Conference, the Tribhuvan University, Central Department of Population Studies announced during a news conference today.
Chief of the TU Central Department of Population Studies, Prof Dr Yogendra Bahadur Gurung said that the population scientists from various countries of Asia will be presenting more than 400 papers based on 17 related topics during the four-day Conference.
He said the papers will be focussed on topics as the world population scenario and trends, its political, social and economic impact, and the opportunities and challenges to the populations of the developed and developing countries, among others.
So far 400 delegates along with more than 300 papers from 36 countries have been registered, Prof Gurung said.
"Nepal will be sharing its experiences on population and development with international community in the upcoming Conference. It is believed that the Conference will contribute toward further promoting Nepal's development agenda and stress on the need of evidence-based development," he added.
According to him, the Conference will provide a guideline for revising laws on population management in the entire world including the Asia region as well as on reviewing Nepal's population policy.(RSS)
