BY JAYA KRISHNA YADAV,Inruwa, Oct. 2: The construction of the administrative building of Harinagar Rural Municipality in Sunsari has reached its final stage and is expected to be handed over ahead of the scheduled date.

According to the Dragon Ravi & BG Construction Company, efforts were being made to complete the construction by mid-May.

The building will have 25 rooms including a hall for the executive committee meeting and a 400-seat assembly hall. The work on the structure including the concreting, is complete, while tasks like window fittings, doors and painting are still pending. The three-story building will include offices for the chairperson, vice-chairperson, chief administrative officer, finance officer and various departmental branches.

Vice Chairman Rimjhim Kumari Bhagat said that with the construction of the building, all major departments would now be housed under one roof, much like Singha Durbar (the central secretariate of the Nepal government), making services easily accessible through a one-door system.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Rohini Acharya, the new RCC building adheres to the latest standards. Harinagar Rural Municipality had been operating from rented premises for the past seven years and only recently has it moved to a temporary structure on the premises of the under-construction building.

Chairman Gaffar Ansari said that the frequent monitoring by the municipality and dedication of the construction company to complete the work on time accelerated the construction work.

The rural municipality had signed an agreement with the construction company

An agreement was made between the local government and the construction company on July 7, 2022, to complete the building within three years for Rs. 97.7 million. However, due to the onset of the monsoon, the construction materials could not be arranged in the first year and construction began only in mid-October of that year.

Although the agreement states that 60 per cent of the cost will be borne by the rural municipality and 40 per cent by the federal government, so far only Rs. 15 million has been released by the federal government. The rural municipality, on the other hand, has already paid Rs. 65 million to the construction company, which has brought the project to its final stage.
