Nearly Rs. 2 Bln released to pay dues of milk, sugarcane farmers

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept 27: The government has released nearly two billion rupees for providing the dues to milk and sugarcane farmers.

The agriculture ministry has transferred over Rs. 1.45 billion and sent the amount to districts for paying the dues of the sugarcane farmers.

The public debt management office has consented to loan investment document and payment in this respect.

Over 1.45 billion rupees will be paid to sugarcane farmers in Kanchanpur, Nawalparasi west, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Siraha and Sunsari. The farmers will get their dues before Dashain.

Similarly, a recent cabinet meeting decided to provide a loan amount of Rs. 600 million to Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) so as to enable it to pay dues of farmers producing milk.

Following the government's approval of the loan, DDC has made plans to pay dues to farmers before Dashain.

Ramnath Adhikari, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, expressed satisfaction over the processes to pay the dues to the farmers.
